Jeane Zosel

A celebration of Jeane's life will be held on Saturday, February 17 at Schuller Family Funeral Home's Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena. Visitation begins at 11:30am with the service at 1pm. Reception to follow, 2-4pm, at Oma's Restaurant, 10 Aldrich Ave. SW in Wadena. Burial will be at a later date in Wadena Cemetery, Wadena, MN.

Jeane L. Zosel was born on April 5, 1924 in Wadena, MN, to parents Roderic Townsend and Vivian Lawrence Townsend. Jeane graduated from Wadena High School in 1942 and married Robert "Bob" Zosel in 1948. Her greatest love was her family - Bob and their six children. She was happiest when spending time with them.
As a lifelong resident of Wadena, Jeane was involved with various community organizations including the Wadena Housing Authority and Pembina Trails group home. She was active in the Methodist Church and the PEO sisterhood. Jeane was instrumental in establishing the Friendly Rider bus service, and the local chapter of Compassionate Friends.
On February 7, 2024 Jeane passed away after a life well-lived.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Robert Townsend, her daughter Margaret, her husband Bob, and two grandbabies Anna and Ben. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Mary and husband Ray Hawes of St. Louis Park, MN, daughter Sara "Sally" and husband Carl Sawicki of Alpine, TX, son Robert of Wadena, daughter Jean of Missoula, MT, and daughter Molly and husband Lance Heuer of Sturgis, S.D. Survivors also include ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The family is grateful to the wonderful staff at Lakewood Care Center in Staples for the exemplary care they provided to Jeane for the past two years.
