Jeanenne Jones Murdock left this world on March 10, 2025, just shy of her 96th birthday. Born in the hills southeast of Idaho Falls, Idaho, on April 1, 1929, she was the daughter of Maiben and Leda Sayer Jones. Jeanenne was an embodiment of tenacity and joy, traits that guided her throughout her life.
When she entered the 6th grade, her family moved to Ammon Idaho, where Jeanenne graduated High School in 1946 and later from Idaho State University in 1950 with a bachelor’s degree in business education. Jeanenne married Joe Hine in November of 1950; they later divorced.
Jeanenne filled various administrative roles between 1950 and 1966, embracing the challenges of each role. It was during this time that she married Rex A. Murdock in November of 1964.
She finally found her true calling, teaching at Skyline High School in 1966. Over the years, she transformed the lives of countless students with her nurturing spirit and commitment to their growth. Teaching was not merely a profession for Jeanenne; it was a true calling that challenged her every day until her retirement.
Even in her later years after moving to Hooper, Utah, Jeanenne's devotion to education never wavered. She lent her talents to the Hooper Elementary School’s reading program, a testament to her unwavering belief in the power of reading and the development of children.
Beyond her professional achievements, she had a great love for travel and enjoyed trips to many locations. Even after the passing of her beloved spouse, her love for travel remained.
Jeanenne loved the outdoors. During the winter months she loved snowmobiling over the hills above Idaho Falls. The summer months found her teeing off on the golf course or spending time in her yard planting flowers and digging in the dirt. During her quiet times, she spent hours reading.
Jeanenne welcomed every moment with laughter and that delightfully sarcastic sense of humor that endeared her to friends and family alike. Jeanenne's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her legacy of kindness, laughter, and education will undoubtedly continue to resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
Jeanenne is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Tony) Maestas, grandchildren: Brody Maestas and Maleena Maestas, great-grandchildren Zach and Jenna Woolstenhulme and Antonio Maestas.
Jeanenne was preceded in death by her husband Rex, her parents, her sister Alice Day, and brothers David Jones and Duane Jones.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday April 5, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Ammon Cemetery, followed by a luncheon and Celebration of Life at Wood Funeral Home Event Center, 1025 South Ammon Road, Ammon, Idaho.
The family would like to thank Fairfield Village for their many years of care and Inspiration hospice for their kindness and support during this difficult time.
Services have been entrusted to Lindquist's Roy Mortuary.
