Jeanette Henry - Dunbar, 88, of Sioux City, Iowa, died on Friday, August 15, 2025, in Sioux City, Iowa.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Whitfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Berth Lundula officiating, located at 1319 W.5th. St. Sioux City, IA 51103. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, at Whitfield United Methodist Church, 1319 W.5th. St., Sioux City, Iowa.

Jeanette was born April 16, 1937, on the family farm near Hornick, to Walter and Cecil (Madden) Steele. She was raised on the farm, attended Hornick Public School and graduated with the class of 1955. After graduating she attended Edwards business school in Sioux City. In 1956, she married Darrell M. Henry. They had four children: Darlynn, Denise, David and Doug. The couple later divorced. On December 22, 1990, she married Darrel W. Dunbar and gained two bonus daughters: Vickie Hainey and Lori Nyreen. Darrel passed away August 26, 2023.
Jeanette worked for B-Line fashions, Sioux City Journal early in her work career. In 1968, she went to work for Sioux City Public Schools working in administration and later in the audio-visual department at West High School, retiring in 2000.
She was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church. Jeanette belonged to many organizations and clubs including Treble Clef Singers, Coralation, Sunset Plaza Bowlers, West High Booster Club, Women of West, Sun Valley Monday Golf League, Wednesday Couples League and Friday morning 39 and Holding Golfers, Auxiliary of St. Lukes, Chapter FA-T.T.T., New Horizon Band, Bonna Bell's Dance Band, Senior Center Chorus, Whitfield U.M.C. choir, United Methodist Women, Tuesday prayer group, Bible Study, served on various church committees, and was a member of the Retired Educators. Music was her passion, she sang for weddings, funerals, played the saxophone, piano and organ. Jeanette had many dear friends from Sacred Heart Church where she spent many years with the "Walkers"
Surviving are children, Darlynn (Gary) McMullen, Denise (Gary) Duerkson, David (Shawn) Henry and Doug Henry; stepchildren, Vickie Hainey and Lori Nyreen; five grandchildren, Jason (Mayple) McMullen, David (Tine) Henry, Nathan Henry, Nicole (Rustin) Bobier, and Austin (Bri) Duerksen; nine great-grandchildren, Deven, Brady and Hailey Henry, Blake and Jayden Bobier, Ava and Adi Henry, and Owen and Lincoln Duerkson, 2 great great-grandchildren; a step-grandchild, Daniel and (Nicole) Nyreen, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Darrel; 3 sisters, Lucille Schaeffer, Gloria Steinhoff and Mary Smith; and a brother, Clifford Steele.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to their cousin, Carolyn Ramsaran, the staff and residents at Charter Senior Living, the nurses at St. Croix Hospice and at Unity Point St. Lukes for all the love and care they gave to Jeanette.
