Jeanette Ward Houchin age 80 of Payneway, Arkansas went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, surrounded by family.  Jeanette was born on February 02, 1944, as the youngest child to Louis and Edna (McIntosh) Ward. On July 15, 1959, she married O.W. Houchin Jr who preceded her in death on July 7,1998. They built a life together in Payneway and had two children Billy and Patty. Jeanette worked at a garment factory in Lepanto for several years, before going back to school to get a license to be a beautician.  Jeanette did hair with her dear friend Jeanetta at Jeanetta's Corner for twenty-five years. She then retired to help keep her four granddaughters’ when needed. Whether it was summer break, a snow day or one of her four girls was sick, she was always there to take care of her family. She was a member of Sneed Street Baptist church that evolved into Grace Baptist Church.  She loved the Lord and her church family so much.  Recently, her Pastor Ron Lovins said when he first met her, he thought she was a "real lady" and all the years that he has known her that had never changed. Jeanette loved working in her beautiful yard on her flowers and plants.  No matter what shape a flower or plant was in when she got her hands on it, she could always bring it back to life with her green thumb. She was forever picking up limbs in her yard because of all the trees on her property.  Her hobbies were playing cards and bowling with her friend's, traveling all over the US in an RV with her brother Johnny (preceded in death) and her sister-in-law Eva (preceded in death), shopping but getting a good deal was a must whether she was shopping for antiques or junking.  Jeanette was a gifted seamstress. She took pride in making dresses and poodle skirts for her granddaughters. She loved to decorate her house and she invited a warm welcomed to all. She did not have the easiest life, but it was a beautifully imperfect life in which she loved the Lord and her family above anything else. She is preceded in death by her husband: O.W. Houchin, Jr., her parents, two brothers: Johnny and Charles Ward, three sisters: Mary Sutton, Martha Edgeller and Johna Pate.Jeanette is survived by one son: Billy Houchin (Mary Ann) of Payneway, Arkansas, one daughter: Patty Walker (Paul) of Payneway, Arkansas, four granddaughters: Holli Willis (Jason) of Cherry Valley, Arkansas, Payton Walker of Trumann, Arkansas, Kristi Conner (Mitch) of Wynne, Arkansas and Whitney Styer (Zachary) of Oakland, Tennessee, two great granddaughters: Graci Willis and Emma Kate Boon.A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. and visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. at Grace Baptist Church, Marked Tree, Arkansas.Interment will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery, Marked Tree, Arkansas.Brother Ron Lovins will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to Grace Baptist Church 100-582 10th Street, Marked Tree, Arkansas 72365
