Jeanette Angelina Krys, age 67, entered eternal rest in Denver, Colorado on February 1, 2026. Born in Fort Morgan, Colorado, Jeanette spent most of her life in Denver, where she built a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion to her family.
Jeanette was a loving mother and a truly exceptional grandparent. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took immense joy in nurturing, guiding, and loving them with a steady and generous heart. She was known for her love of music and art, her warmth and thoughtful gestures, and her faith, which shaped the way she loved and served those around her.
She is survived by her beloved mother Velma Riley; her siblings Lucretia Cuyler, Regina Bruno, Daniel and Ancil Riley; her daughters Athena Barnes and Katrina Conway; her adored grandchildren Aksel and Cedric Barnes, Sierra and Dakota Suckstorff, and Aiden and Caleb Landrus. Jeanette’s life was a testament to enduring faith, family bonds, and unconditional love.
A memorial celebration of Janette’s life will be held later this year at Chatfield State Park, honoring her memory in a place where she was truly happy.
“When great trees fall,
rocks on distant hills shudder,
lions hunker down
in tall grasses,
and even elephants
lumber after safety.
When great trees fall in forests,
small things recoil into silence,
their senses
eroded beyond fear.
When great souls die,
the air around us becomes
light, rare, sterile.
We breathe, briefly.
Our eyes, briefly,
see with a hurtful clarity.”
— Maya Angelou
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain” – Revelation 21:4
