Jeanette A. McCance

Jeanette "Jaynet" Anne McCance, 94, passed away on October 31, 2025, with her loved ones by her side.

She was born April 6th, 1931 in Havelock, Nebraska to John Roderick and Ora June Gillespie.

On January 28th, 1950 she married Charley McCance in Marysville, Kansas. Together they shared many wonderful years. They lived in the Gothenburg-Brady, Nebraska area until 1969. In 1969, Charley and Jaynet, moved to Chadron, Nebraska to expand their cattle company. In Chadron, Jaynet owned Fashion Crossroads and String and Things. She was also very active on the family ranch. She was extremely dedicated to her dogs and horses. She loved the outdoors and was a Master-gardener. Jaynet also self-published a novel called "Jessie" at the age of 92.

She is survived by her brother's Jerry (Martha) Gillespie of Sebastopol, CA and Terry (Cindy) Gillespie of Lincoln, NE. Her sister Jenny Rose (Dave) Armstrong of Madison, WI. Her children Bill (Dwight) McCance of Tucson, AZ, Tammi (Dan) Littrel of Gordon, NE and Chuck (Leanne) McCance of Chadron, NE. She is also survived by 10 Grandchildren, 23 Great-Grandchildren, and 3 Great-great Grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charley, her daughter Suzan, her grandson Timothy, her parents John Roderick and Ora June Gillespie and her good friend Donald Monson.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials in Jaynet's name may be sent to Highland Park Memory Care Unit, Crawford Volunteer Fire Department or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
