Jeanette was born in Pleasant Hill, LA, on June 21, 1939, to Cecil Bill Gilcrease and Dorthy Tyler Gilcrease. She spent her childhood in Pleasant Hill and later in Shreveport, LA, graduating in 1957 from Byrd High School.
