Jeanette Marie Pozza, 94, the former Jeanette Marie Eutizzi, passed away at Freeman Nursing & Rehabilitation Community on September 7, 2024. She is the oldest of four children of Julius and Alda Eutizzi.
Our Mother led a glorious and fulfilled life! On September 1, 1956, Jeanette and Henry "Chi Chi" Pozza were married in a double-ring ceremony at Immaculate Conception Church with Father James McCarthy celebrating the Mass.
Jeanette and Chi Chi officially started dating when Chi Chi was honorably discharged after serving three years in Korea. Moooney Mariucci set up the date and the rest is history. With two beautiful children, Terese and Stephen, they enjoyed 56 wonderful years together. Their home was filled with much love and laughter. They traveled extensively, driving to Califormnia, Arizona, West Virginia, Grand Rapids and visited most of the United States, and had the time of their life on two trips to Italy, visiting relatives in Rome, Sigello, Umbria and Venice along with Lugano, Switzerland.
Jeanette was a member of the Dickinson Memorial Hospital League, sewing beautiful felt ornaments and tree skirts for the annual Holiday Bazaar at the Armory. She was also a member of the Iron Mountain Kingsford Women's Club and loved volunteering at the hospital gift shop. She was also a longtime and faithful member of St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Parish.
Our Mother was a beautiful singer, beginning her "career" at Iron Mountain High School pep rallies, then with local orchestras. She also sang while employed as a typist of commercials at WMIQ Radio, on a program at WIKB Radio, and later as a member of the St. Mary and St. Joseph Choral Choir, and enjoyed serving at funeral lunches. After graduating from Iron Mountain High School in 1948 she worked at the Michigan Bell Telephone Company business office until 1959.
Our Mom was a proud Italian and was happiest when we were all together, cooking up wonderful Italian meals - acts of love. "Per tutto Mangiara"
She lived a glorious life, adored our Dad, her children and grandchildren, and always, always, put her family first. "Sempre familia"
Jeanette Marie Pozza will be deeply missed by her loving daughter, Terese (John) Barry; loving son, Stephen (Elena) Pozza; grandchildren, Ann Barry, John Barry Jr., Elizabeth Pozza, Thomas Pozza and Maria Pozza; sisters, Julie Eutizzi and Marie Balzarini; brother, Nick (Carol) Eutizzi; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Our Mom and all of us wish to thank Dr. Gustavo Morel, Michelle Morel, PA, Dr. Clayton Shaker, Dr. John Groeneveld, and Dr. Steven Leonard for their wonderful care, compassion and being such wonderful doctors. "Molto Grazie". The wonderful and caring staff at Freeman Nursing & Rehab, thank you for taking such good care of our Mother. Finally, much appreciation to our wonderful Aunt Julie, our Mother's younger sister, who cared for her non-stop, made daily visits, made meals, chauffeured Mom on outings and to appointments, and for always being there for our Mom and all of us. She was a constant strength and very much loved.
Visitation will be at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home, 901 Carpenter Ave., from 8:00 - 9:30 AM on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024. Father Janusz Romanek will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church, 411 West B St., at 10:00 AM on Monday. The burial will be in the Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Carmelite Nuns Monastery of the Holy Cross. PO Box 397 Iron Mountain, MI 49801, in our family name. Thank you!
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.
