In 1959 she obtained an Art and Advertising degree from Mohawk Valley Technical Institute in Utica. After interning in New York City, she worked in the Carbola Chemical Company print shop. On September 19, 1959, she married Duane P. Wicks, at St. James Catholic Church, and was happily married for 65 years.
Subsequent to raising four children, she assumed bookkeeping responsibilities for the family business and created and operated the Gathering Sleigh craft shop for many years. Jeanette was one of the founding members of the Town of Diana Historical Museum and active in the community serving on the Harrisville School Board, as a member of the Fortnightly Club, the Christian Women's Club, and as a Girl and Boy Scout leader. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, flower gardening, drawing, and bowling; her creative touch made every family gathering welcoming and beautiful.
