Lowville/Harrisville - Jeanette L. Wicks, 85, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025.

Calling hours will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Lundy Funeral Home, located at 500 State Street in Carthage, NY 13619. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 1:30 pm with the Reverend Canon Samuel P. Lundy officiating. Following the funeral service, she will be laid to rest at the Harrisville Cemetery.

Jeanette was born on November 14, 1939, in Rome, NY, to the late Donald and Lucille (Krentkowski) Muir, attending school in Natural Bridge and graduating from Carthage Central High School in 1957. In 1959 she obtained an Art and Advertising degree from Mohawk Valley Technical Institute in Utica. After interning in New York City, she worked in the Carbola Chemical Company print shop. On September 19, 1959, she married Duane P. Wicks, at St. James Catholic Church, and was happily married for 65 years.

Subsequent to raising four children, she assumed bookkeeping responsibilities for the family business and created and operated the Gathering Sleigh craft shop for many years. Jeanette was one of the founding members of the Town of Diana Historical Museum and active in the community serving on the Harrisville School Board, as a member of the Fortnightly Club, the Christian Women's Club, and as a Girl and Boy Scout leader. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, flower gardening, drawing, and bowling; her creative touch made every family gathering welcoming and beautiful.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Duane Wicks, Lowville; four children, Michael (Julie) Wicks of Harrisville, Kathleen (Chuck) Corliss of Pittsfield NH, Christopher “Chris” (Debi) Wicks of Theresa, and Richard Wicks, of Sunnyvale, CA; six grandchildren, Paige, Michaela, Colleen, Morgan, Natalie, and Jonathan; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Janice Pellegrino, Camillus; and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents, Donald and Lucille Muir; her stepmother Isabel (Rice) Muir; a brother, Richard Muir; and a brother-in-law, Louis Pellegrino.

Donations in Jeanette’s memory may be made to the Town of Diana Historical Museum P.O. Box 216 Harrisville, NY 13648, or the Friends of Lewis County Hospice.
