Jeanie Charlene Fleming, known to everyone as “Charli” passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the age of 77. She was born November 18, 1946 to Charles and Jeanie Patty Garrett in North Little Rock, Arkansas where she attended NLR schools. After high school she attended college in Memphis where she met the love of her life, Roger Fleming, through mutual friends. After moves to Bakersfield, California, Portales, New Mexico and Hope, Arkansas they settled in Searcy, Arkansas where she worked in accounting for Energy Management, Birdsong Goodin International, Yarnell’s, Vickers and RAPA. But her favorite “job” was volunteering at Unity Hospital’s Gift Shop where she loved meeting and talking to new people. She would spend endless hours there opening it up on holidays and odd occasions so people could enjoy and shop or just come in for coffee.
Even though she loved volunteering, her greatest joy in life was her family. She was an amazing wife and Mother but she thoroughly enjoyed being Nana. She said it was her job to spoil her grandkids rotten and she was really good at it. She always made time for them and any project they had going. Buying endless legos for pyramids, sewing costumes for any school activity or cheering the grandkids on at all their sports events, she loved being involved in anything they had going.
Left to honor her memory, is her daughter, Gina Davis (Brent) of McCrory, AR and son, Eric Fleming of Searcy, AR; grandchildren, Trey Shafer (McKennly) and Nathan Shafer (Alexis) both of Searcy, Brenan Smith (Royce) of Marion, Arkansas and Colten (Eden) of Wynne, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Kimber Jane Shafer, Kollyns Grace Shafer, Maelynn Jo Shafer, Davis Lane Smith and Reid Whitley Smith.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roger Fleming; parents; sister, Patricia Browne; and in-laws, Talmadge and Jessie Mae Fleming.
A memorial celebration will be held at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home, 2616 S Main St., Searcy, Arkansas on Friday, August 23, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. www.searcymceuenfuneralhome.com
