Jeanne Seamster Obituary

Jeanne Boswell Seamster

August 14, 1937 - January 30, 2022

Jeanne B. Seamster, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Sovah Health Center, Danville, Virginia. Jeanne was born on August 14, 1937, to Bessie and Luther Boswell in Dry Fork, Va.

Jeanne spent her young life growing up in the Schoolfield Community. Where her family moved to work for Dan River Mills. There at age 8, she met a young man who would become her husband. After graduating from Fishburne Military Academy, James Barbour Seamster and Jeanne were married on February 27, 1955. Together they enjoyed a great life, serving the Lord, raising their children, and building a business, Wilco Inc.

Jeanne was a devoted Mother, affectionate Grandmother, very proud Great-Grandmother, and faithful friend. She was a talented musician, playing the piano beautifully. Her family and friends were blessed to enjoy her good cooking and traveling many places together. Due to the fact Jeanne never met a stranger, it was always interesting and enjoyable to travel with her. She will be remembered most by those who loved her as "an encourager" and a woman of great strength. Jeanne's passing fulfills a desire held sacred during her life to someday live in God's Kingdom through Embracing Jesus for dying on the cross. We have the Blessed assurance that our mother and Grandmother has made it safely home.

Predeceasing Jeanne are her parents; her grandmother, Nellie Stowe Yeatts; husband, James Barbour Seamster; and sons, James Barbour Seamster II, and John Paul Seamster.

She is survived by daughters, Kimberly Sue Seamster of Winston Salem, N.C., and Betsye Boswell Seamster of Danville; sons, Joseph Wiley Seamster of Danville), and Joshua Daniel Seamster of Danville; grandchildren, Matthew James Clay of Danville, Benjamin Thomas Clay (Taylor) of Greensboro, N.C., Betsye Jean Miller (Mark) of Belews Creek, N.C., Alexandra Haymes (Bradley) of Chatham, Va., and Joseph Wiley Seamster II (Madison) of Danville; great-grandchildren, Aaron Matthew Clay, Mackenzie James Miller, Benjamin Thomas Clay II, George Cleveland Clay, Charlie Haymes, Scout Haymes, Shiloh Haymes, and James Paul Seamster; beloved sister-in-law, Mary Francis Ferguson; special niece, Rebeccah Chandler Hatchett; and god daughter, Mauriah Monk Smith.

A private burial will be held at Danville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy can make a donation to the Danville Life Saving Crew, or the Danville Humane Society in remembrance of Jeanne's Life.

Thanks for the memories, my friend. Didn't we have some good times- catching up on the news at the shop....seeing some great romantic movies....eating many, many times at Red Lobster....sharing the goodness of the Lord....and ministering at Ground Zero after 911. I enjoyed it all, and I'll meet you in Heaven.
Love,
Carolyn

Love, thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this very sad time. I'm very shocked and saddened to hear about the loss of Jeanne. She was such a remarkable lady, always so very friendly, sincere and honest. I always enjoyed stopping by the store to talk with her and Betsy. Great memories for certain. We always had some very entertaining conversations to say the least! Jeanne will surely be missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. May GOD hold you all close in his care during this sad and difficult time. Love and prayers, Daryl & Cameron

Some of my fondest memories are of sitting with Jeanne (our families wouldn't sit with us because we were too boisterous) while watching John Paul and my brother Philip play baseball for G.W. High School. She never failed to charm me. This world has far less beauty and far less grace without Jeanne. My condolences to the family.

Sending Deepest Sympathy to the Seamster Family. I´ve know Jeanne for many years, she was always delightful to be around. Like so many others this pandemic has put so much distance between family & friends. Hadn´t seen her in a while. Have great memories thru the years of good times together!

Betsy, Kim, Joseph, Joshua and family...I am just heart broken that my dear cousin Jean us no longer here on this earth where I can talk and laugh with her. But I am rejoicing in heart and spirit because I know she is with MaMa Yeatts, Ed, her beloved James and her boys Jimmy and John Paul. Don't you know they are having a wonderful reunion in Heaven?
She is walking those wonderful streets of Gold...singing God's praises with her beautiful voice and filling Heaven with her wonderful sounds of laughter.
I love you Jeanne. I love all you. I pray God will gather you in His arms and comfort you during this sad time.
