Jeanne Spangler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home - Fairlawn on Jan. 8, 2026.
Jeanne Spangler went to be with the Lord on Monday January 5, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Margaret Herdman and husband Raymond Spangler. She leaves behind a son, Paul Spangler (Nicole) and two grandchildren (Sammy and Lily).

She was born in Akron on May 5, 1947, to Gerald and Margaret Herdman. She had 1 brother (Jack) and 1 sister (Ruth). She graduated from Ellet high school where she met Ray who she married in 1968 while he was stationed in Germany with the US Army. They were married for 50 years.

She was a faithful member of Grace Cathedral including singing in Angels Grace Cathedral Choir for over 40 years. Jeanne loved the mission field where she traveled with the church to nations across South America and Africa spreading the gospel. She enjoyed visiting prison, hospitals, and street work. She was bold in passing out tracts, literature and praying for those in need. She had great love for the children on the mission field visiting orphanages was one of her favorite places to share God's love. She always enjoyed packing toys, gifts, clothes and Bibles for the many orphanages they visited on their missionary journeys. Jeanne also learned sign language so she could work with the children and the deaf & mute on the mission fields.

In her final years she had 2 grandchildren, Sammy and Lily, whom she adored. She loved to visit them and play with them. She was anxious to teach them sign language in the future. They will miss their "Grammy".

Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Grace Cathedral Akron, 1055 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312 where friends may call from 9:30am until the time of the service.

Private interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
