Jeanne Ann Thompson, formerly of Prescott, MI, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Medilodge of Clare, MI. Jeanne was born October 25, 1943 in Bay City, MI to the late Clarence and Evelyn (Sullivan) Dishaw.
Jeanne attended Visitation Catholic School until her Senior year of high school when her family moved to Prescott, MI. She graduated from Whittemore-Prescott High School in 1961. On June 22, 1963, Jeanne married Bill Thompson in Lawton, OK where Bill was stationed at Fort Sill Army Base. In 1965, while Bill was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, they welcomed their first son, William Thompson, Jr. Later, Bill and Jeanne settled in Prescott, MI and lived at 3007 Mills Rd. for over 50 years where many wonderful memories were made. Bill and Jeanne’s second son, Jeff, was born in 1968. Being a stay-at-home mom and raising her boys was one of the greatest joys of Jeanne’s life.
Jeanne was a parishioner at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Lady’s Altar Society, putting on many funeral luncheons. Jeanne was a very good cook and made excellent pies. Jeanne was always there to lend a hand for family functions from making side dishes to lending crockpots and roasters out to anyone who needed them.
Jeanne took great pride in being a grandmother, seeing her grandchildren whenever she could and traveling long distances with her husband Bill to see them participate in sports, plays, and other major events in their lives.
One of Jeanne’s favorite places to visit was The Magic Kingdom in Orlando, FL.
The park brought her much happiness and she loved experiencing it with family, especially her grandchildren. “It’s a Small World" was her absolute favorite ride. When in Florida, Jeanne loved to go to the beach and collect seashells. Jeanne’s other hobbies included collecting TY bears and bunnies. She also loved going to antique stores.
Jeanne is survived by her husband Bill Thompson of 61 years; her sons Bill (Kay) Thompson Jr. and Jeff (Jennea) Thompson; brothers, Dave Dishaw, Dale (Sue) Dishaw, and Clare Dishaw; grandchildren, Chad, Ryan (Janelle), Sarah (Matt), Brett and Connor; great-grandchildren, Amaya, Noelle, Gabriel, Sofie, and Sammy; dear friends Cheryl Stachlewicz and Marilyn Beard.
