Jeannie Patrick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home on Mar. 6, 2026.
Jeannie Byrd Patrick of Covington, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on September 24, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee, she was the daughter of William and Lavell Byrd. Jeannie grew up on a small family farm on Gift/Tabernacle Road in Covington, where she learned the values that shaped her character and guided her throughout her life.

Jeannie began her career in several secretarial positions before finding her calling with the March of Dimes, where she served for 23 years as a Community Director. In that role she organized fundraising efforts throughout West Tennessee, generating vital support for the organization's mission and touching many lives through her dedication and tireless work.

Known for her kindness and quiet grace, Jeannie carried herself with a warmth that made others feel welcome and valued. After retirement she devoted much of her time to her lifelong love of art. She enjoyed painting and crafting, and found special joy in sharing that passion-teaching art to children in her family and community and encouraging their creativity.

Jeannie was a devoted mother to her son, Jody Patrick of Arlington, Tennessee. Throughout his life she worked selflessly to ensure he had what he needed and the guidance to become the man he is today. When he left the house as a boy, she often reminded him to "remember who you are and where you came from," a lesson he continues to pass on to his own children.

She was also a proud grandmother to Hayley (19) and Jax (15), the children of Jody and his wife Trisha, who brought her great joy.

Jeannie is survived by her son Jody Patrick and his wife Trisha of Arlington, Tennessee; her beloved grandchildren, Hayley and Jax; her brothers and sisters, Margrett, John "Bubba," Jim, Jerry, Mary, Judy, Becky, and Chris and their families; and her lifelong friends Voncille Baxter, Barbara Sampson, and Pat Butler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lavell Byrd.

Jeannie was a lifelong member of Tabernacle Methodist Church, where her faith and community were an important part of her life.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. and funeral services following at 2:00 p.m.

The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Tabernacle Methodist Church (50 Tabernacle Road, Covington, TN 38019)

Jeannie's life was marked by kindness, creativity, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
