Jeannine Miller Obituary
Jeannine Ruth Miller, age 89, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on the morning of Thursday, October 9, 2025. She had bravely battled Alzheimer's for several years, spending her final year in memory care at the Springhurst Health Campus - Legacy Building.
Born on June 22, 1936, in Urbana, Illinois, to Rev. G. H. and Ertice (Krauchi) Boley, Jeannine grew up in a Free Methodist parsonage home where her father served as a pastor and Superintendent in the Wabash Conference.
A 1954 graduate of Clay City High School in Clay City, Indiana, Jeannine earned her Bachelor of Science in Education (magna cum laude) from Greenville University in 1957 and her Master's of Science in Guidance and Counseling from Butler University in 1961. She later completed additional graduate work at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, becoming licensed in Library Science.
On September 15, 1957, Jeannine married her high school sweetheart, Pearson Miller. Just days before her passing, they celebrated 68 years of marriage-a lifelong partnership marked by faith, love, and devotion.
After moving to Greenfield in 1958, Jeannine began a 40-year career in education, serving as a junior high school teacher, Dean, and Counselor. She was named Indiana Middle School Counselor of the Year and was honored in 1981 as a Distinguished Alumnus of Greenville University. In 2021, the Jeannine Miller Scholarship in Guidance and Counseling and Social Work was established through the Hancock County Community Foundation to honor her lifelong commitment to students and education.
Jeannine and Pearson were charter members of Aldersgate Free Methodist Church, where she devoted herself to serving others-planning church meals and supporting many ministries, including groundskeeping at Wabash Camp, Wabash Conference Women's Ministries, and Free Methodist World Missions through prayer, financial support, and short-term ministry trips to Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina.
One of Jeannine's summertime joys was her "van ministry," through which she organized day trips for women to Shipshewana and the Amish communities of northern Indiana. These outings became treasured times of laughter, encouragement, and friendship-where younger women found mentoring and faith-filled guidance from those further along the journey. Each trip reflected Jeannine's heart for community and her quiet ministry of discipleship.
After retiring, Jeannine and Pearson enjoyed many winters at Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, where she loved caning chairs and creating hundreds of hand-stitched greeting cards, which she shared generously with family and friends.
Jeannine is survived by her husband, Pearson; sons, P. Jon (Deb) Miller of Greenfield and Phillip (Jill) Miller of Mt. Shasta, California; and grandchildren, Andrew and Elliana Miller.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Jeannine's devoted caregiver, Kimberly Raffaelli, and to the compassionate staff of the Legacy Memory Care Unit at Springhurst Health Campus for their exceptional care and kindness.
