Jebbie Gica Canales, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on September 12, 2025. She was 65 years old.

Born on July 20, 1960, in Siquijor, Philippines, Jebbie was the daughter of Antonio and Anacorita Gica. She grew up with her siblings Jessie, Jabert, Judy, and Jerrylin, carrying with her the strong family values that would guide her entire life.

Jebbie married Eugene Canales Jr., which they built a blended family that became her greatest source of pride. She was a stepmother to Eugene "Junie" Canales III and Juan Canales "Marty", an adoptive mother to her niece, Jinky Canales, and the proud mother of her only biological daughter, Pearl Canales Previtera.

Her love multiplied through her grandchildren, who brought her endless joy: Adela, Eugene IV (Geno), Mariah, Brittany (Junie's children), Juan Jr. (Trollie) and Nikolas (Juan's children), Mica (Jinky's daughter), and Jaden, Jayden, Jesse, and June (Pearl's children). To them, she was not only a grandmother but a guiding light of laughter, warmth, and unconditional love.

Jebbie lived her life with adventure, silliness, and beauty. She had a way of making others feel at ease, and being in her presence was truly a joy. She cherished her Filipino community, both near and far, and was always looking for ways to care for others. Her compassion and generosity left an imprint on everyone who knew her.

Professionally, Jebbie dedicated many years to UC Davis, where she worked with dedication until her retirement. She carried the same kindness and work ethic into her career that she shared at home, making lifelong friendships along the way.

She will be remembered for her big heart, her laughter, and the way she made life feel brighter and fuller for those around her.

Jebbie's legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and countless loved ones. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
