Jeff Dunbar Obituary

Published by Legacy from Oct. 16 to Oct. 21, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jeff Dunbar, beloved husband, father, son, and friend. Jeff left this world peacefully on October 11, 2025, at the age of 52, with family surrounding him. Jeff had a courageous fight with a rare form of gastrointestinal cancer. In June, the amazing team at Virginia Mason in Seattle removed the tumor and he was on the road to recovery. He had an amazing two months in July and August, but unfortunately the cancer came back far sooner than we hoped. At the end of September, the doctors discovered the cancer had come back very aggressively, with no effective treatment options available.
Jeff was born on December 28, 1972, to Loren Dunbar and Linda DeYoung, and grew up in Gleed, Washington where he had many wild adventures with his Gleed Boys.
Jeff graduated from Naches Valley High School, as a proud Ranger. Jeff made his mark on the football field and wrestling mat - earning an impressive third place finish at state his senior year. After high school he went on to attend Perry Technical Institute, where he studied to be an electrician. His strong work ethic, determination, and entrepreneurship led him to build a successful and well-respected electrical business, Dunbar Electric.
On August 8, 1998, he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Sue. Together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, hard work, and devotion. Sue got Jeff out of his comfort zone, traveling all over the world making so many memories and experiencing many fun adventures. Jeff was a proud and loving father to his two daughters, Darcy (born 2001) and Taylor (born 2003), who were his greatest joy and constant source of pride.
Jeff's passion for the outdoors was unmatched - he loved hunting, side-by-siding, snow skiing, camping and spending time boating with family and friends. Whether riding the trails, surfing behind his Malibu, or scouting out deer and elk, Jeff found joy in nature and in sharing those moments with the people he loved most.
Those who knew Jeff will remember his strength, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. Even in the face of illness, his courage and positivity inspired all who stood by his side. His easygoing humor and generous heart made everyone feel welcome wherever he went. He was a man who could fix almost anything, who never hesitated to lend a hand, and whose laughter and good spirit filled every room he entered. Jeff's time here was far too short, but his warmth, love, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
Jeff is preceded in death by his grandparents, Margaret and Alvin Dunbar, and Amy and Delmar Anderson.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Sue; his daughters, Darcy and Taylor; his parents, Loren and Cindy Dunbar and Linda and Duane DeYoung; his father and mother-in-law, Delbert and Kay Imrie; his siblings, Jamie Dunbar (Tara) and Kimberly Sloan (Nick); his nephew and nieces, Alex, Emma, Ellie, Kate and Sadie.
A Celebration of Jeff's Life will be held at West Side Church (6901 Summitview Ave. Yakima 98908) Saturday November 1st at 11 am. A reception will immediately follow at Fontaine Estates (151 Rowe Hill Dr. Naches 98937).
