Jeff F. Fomby, born on July 3, 1943, went to be with his Savior on August 4, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Those who knew Jeff will remember his dry humor, many, many stories, and his ability to bring lightness to everyday moments. His hobbies included working crossword puzzles, watching car races, and coaching college basketball games from his favorite chair. He and his wife, Shirley, also played games daily, both with a competitive spirit.
Jeff worked in Quality Control within the steel industry, holding only two jobs throughout his career. He particularly enjoyed the specialty metals.
His love of the Lord found him teaching Bible classes, giving communion meditations, serving as an elder, and eventually being treasurer of several churches for lengthy amounts of time.
He had a longstanding involvement as a Master Mason since 1972. He served as Worshipful Master in Libertyville, Illinois in 1978 and contributed as their treasurer for 23 years. He is now affiliated with the local Whittington Masonic lodge and has served as their treasurer for a number of years.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Cheryl (Richard) Catalano, Dwight Crocker, Ronald (Laurie) Fomby, and Karyn (Kerry) Honor; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
To honor Jeff, a service will be held at Village Bible Church, 100 Ponderosa Way, Hot Springs Village, AR on Saturday, August 9 at 1:00 pm.
