Jeff Leland Simpson's soul was welcomed on earth on May 4th, 1961, in
Norwich, Kansas to Marv and Mary Simpson, joining his siblings Linn and Scott. It was here his foundational views, beliefs, and values developed and allowed him to become the great man we all know and love.
In his youth he stood for justice and compassion; he fearlessly stood up for those needing protection and fostered countless animals. His strengths were served with a sense of humor, a slick smile, and sagaciousness.
During the 70's the Weathered-Simpson Homestead was sold and the family began a new adventure in
Fort Collins, Colorado. Jeff attended Fort Collins High School, where he met lifelong friends. These relationships were ones of ease, comfort, humor, adventure and respect; and could be picked up seamlessly after years without hesitation. Simultaneously, Jeff contributed to numerous infrastructures, working for his father, in Northern Colorado; many of which still stand today. His work ethic, formed on the farm, continued to be an integral part of Jeff's standards and commitment to himself and others.
In 1983, Jeff became a father to his firstborn, Leland Taj Simpson. He knew he was destined for great things and dubbed him Anjin-San, without knowing it meant "honorable pilot." Jeff had an uncanny, and often misunderstood, ability to connect and communicate with the universe; this being a prime example.
While attending university in
Pueblo, Colorado, studying mechanical engineering full-time, he also worked two full-time jobs. At one of these positions, he met his life partner, Cynthia Lorraine Delgado (maiden); in 1988 they wed, and he became a father figure to Deidra Laraine McCall. His playful nature allowed for a connection to develop between them. In 1989, Jeff and Cynthia welcomed a new addition to the family, Corey Maxwell Simpson.
Fort Collins became their home in 1988. It was here Jeff was able to truly become the best version of himself. His work experience reflected his love for resolving complex systems. Here he was able to delve more deeply into scripture and find a belief system that he felt truly in alignment with. Jeff's commitment to learning was never-ending; he often spoke of new ideas and concepts and was the type of person who implemented ideas.
His love for family was unparalleled. He was immensely proud of the man his son has become. He enjoyed walks with Cynthia and knew when she needed to go on a long mountain drive. His love for Deidra ran deep and he was grateful for their last moments together. He taught Corey how to play billiards and would beam with joy when she succeeded in winning when playing together. Their father-daughter connection was full of laughter, late night conversations and countless similarities. His grandkids all held unique and special places in both his heart in mind. Jeff was constantly thinking about how to improve life, whether that was through his numerous inventions, religion, spirituality, means of communication, acts of service, thoughtfulness, politics or love, he always sought out betterment. He was and will continue to be an inspiring example of showing up.
On the more lighthearted side (which we all know he had) Jeff LOVED to laugh and loved to tell and listen to jokes. We all know THAT smile and most of us have been a recipient of a prank or two. He enjoyed drinking IPAs in the company of others or while tinkering in the garage or his workstation. Jeff was an exceptional experimental cook, whipping up epicurean delights with ease; not to mention, his burgers are unmatched. Deep conversations were thoroughly enjoyed and never lacked unique perspectives.
I think it goes without saying, Jeff's human form was a devout man of G-d, and now, his spirit continues that path.
He left this world and reunited with Hashem, family, friends and animal companions on December 2, 2023.
May the fourth be with you.
