Jefferey Lemanuel Hicks was born on December 10, 1971. His parents Barbara Hutto and Jerry L Hicks celebrated his early childhood in Maywood, Illinois, a West Side suburb of the Chicago metropolitan area. Jefferey transitioned to be with the Lord on July 12, 2025.

Jefferey attended Commerce City Schools and the Maywood-Melrose Park-Broadview School District.

Jefferey was preceded in death by his father (Jerry L. Hicks) grandparents (William Rucker and Geneva Rucker) aunts (Debra Rucker and Faye Taylor)

Jefferey leaves to cherish his loving memory his mother and stepfather Barbara and Jim Hutto.

Jefferey is also survived by (aunts) Gale Rucker, Sherry Mason (Commerce, Georgia), Gaye (Steve) Brooks, Valerie Geathers (Lawrenceville, Georgia, (uncles) David (Eloise) Rucker (Good Hope. Georgia), Donald (Tonya) Rucker (Cartersville, Georgia), Taylor (Marshell) Rucker (Braselton, Georgia) (great aunts) Willie Mae Shannon (Carnesville, Georgia), Ethel Shannon (Chicago, Illinois), Carol Shannon (Chicago, Illinois), and a host of cousins and friends.

Jefferey loved his dogs, especially his dog, Cody, that he has had for the last 16 years. Jefferey loved his family and regularly came home to visit. Jeff was a truck driver and loved collecting comic books. At the time of his unexpected death, he was employed by The Chicago Transit Authority. Jefferey joined Mount Pleasant CME Church in Commerce, Georgia at an early age.

Jeff´s presence in the neighborhood is sorely missed. You could count on seeing him up to 4 times a day, walking his dogs. Always pleasant when my kids and I would encounter him. May he rest in peace.
