Jefferson Bryant Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Abbey Funeral Home and Tallahassee Memory Gardens - Tallahassee on Feb. 25, 2026.
Jefferson (JD) Davis Bryant passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, February 22, 2026, just weeks before his 100th birthday. He was born March 17, 1926, in Grandridge, FL, and was one of eight children.

He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and later worked as a construction supervisor for 40 years. He was married for 78 years to his wife and best friend, Joan Bryant, who preceded him in death. We were blessed to have him in our lives as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and friend. He was the foundation of his family, loving them beyond measure and teaching generations the true meaning of family.

He remained concerned for the well-being of his children until the day he passed, always there when someone was sick or in need. He loved fishing, camping, and turning wood on a lathe. He could regularly be found making vases and bowls with his son Andy.

He is survived by his three children, Andy Bryant (Judy McKinney), Janice Gorman (Tommy Gorman), and Peggy Kelley; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Bryant, and two grandchildren, Scott Gorman and Jesse Kelley. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
