Jeffery L. Jones, 67, of La Porte, passed away unexpectedly at 8:29 p.m., Sunday, February 16, 2025 at home.
He was born on August 29, 1957, in La Porte, to Robert and Janis (Grandorf) Jones.
Jeffery was a truck safety inspector and proudly served on the Center Township Fire Department for many years. He later went in business for several years owning three different bars in South Bend, Moondog's; Moondog's North; and AJ's Burger Shack and Pub. Jeffery enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time with grandchildren and family. He loved spending time with his granddaughter riding golf carts and going shooting. Jeffery loved to make people laugh and had a comedic sense of humor. He also loved playing with and feeding his granddaughter's goats, rabbits and many other animals on his son's property. Jeffery's favorite pet was his granddaughter's cherished and beloved giant Bernese Mountain dog, "Puppy T". He loved mowing and would often sneak out to his son's property to cut the grass while his son Grant was at work. Jeffery was greatly loved and will be truly missed.
Surviving are his two children, Grant Amor (Jones) and Britne Lynn Jones; two brothers, Michael (Rondi) Jones and Mark (Cathy) Jones; sister, Cindy Bechinski; two grandchildren, Aynsley Paige Amor (Jones) and Ayden; three great grandchildren, Dixie Marie, Khylen and Layani; his former spouse, Diane Amor; one sister-in-law, Sandy Jones of Calabash, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Garry Jones; and one brother-in-law, Rich Bechinski.
Cremation will take place. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100, is caring for the arrangements.
