Jeffery Keefer Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 6, 2025.
Jeffery "Jeff" Allan Keefer, 65, of Niles, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on September 5, 2025.

Born April 10, 1960, in Niles to the late Howard and Joan (Darnell) Keefer, Jeff lived his entire life in the community he loved. He was united in marriage to Paulette (Karnes) Keefer on June 18, 2012, after many years together, and their love was the foundation of a close and blended family.

Jeff is survived by his sons Joshua (Brienne) Keefer of Niles and Nathaniel (Nicole) Keefer of Niles; stepdaughters Mandy Cook, Corrie Cook, and Beth Cook, all of Niles; and his sisters Cynthia (James) Gumpert of Niles and Kimberly Russell of Niles. He was a proud grandfather to Makayla, Samantha, Blake, Paige, Sylas, Gibson, Zayne, Payton, Sophia, and Chloey, and a great-grandfather to two beloved little ones. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Daniel Keefer.

Jeff was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country with honor. As a corporal, he served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division.

Jeff was a man with a love for speed and adventure. Throughout his life, he owned several boats and cars-most especially Corvettes-that reflected his passion for horsepower and the open road. Family was at the heart of everything he did, and he delighted in entertaining his grandchildren, even building go-kart tracks around his property for their enjoyment. His favorite pastimes included listening to classic rock-Pink Floyd, Santana, and Yes among his favorites-watching MASH*, and cheering on his lifelong teams, the Chicago Bears and the Michigan Wolverines.

According to his wishes, Jeff will be cremated and laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.

He will be remembered for his big heart, his adventurous spirit, and the joy he brought to family and friends alike.
