Jeffrey "Fee" Arwine passed away, peacefully and in the comfort of his home in Atwood, Illinois on November 30, 2024.
Jeff was born to Reuben Arwine and Evelyn (Johnson) Arwine on October 18, 1952 in Tuscola, Illinois. He grew up in Murdock, Illinois with ten of his twelve siblings, the youngest of 13 children. He graduated from Newman High School in Newman, Illinois in 1970 where he affectionately became known as "Fee", as the first in line of a string of kids named "Jeff"; they were jokingly named Fee, Fi, Fo, and Fum. The nickname "Fee" stuck throughout his life as friends would still call him that today. He was a hot rodder and a biker, through and through (although he would say "hippie") with many tales to tell of his favorite cars and motorcycles over the years. Jeff spent the majority of his professional life as a mechanic, well over 30 years, and had the knuckles to show for it. He had a love for the outdoors and camping along with many hobbies including HO scale trains and model cars, loved music and vinyl records, his motorcycles and a number of cars over his adult years. If he wasn't camping or working you could find him at home because that certainly is where his heart was. He was patient and caring and if he thought he could be useful he would be the first to drop everything to help. He had a steady and unwavering character like very few others. A man of few words, you were not going to get small talk out of him and if he did talk about something you knew it was something he cared about. Jeff was a simple man with simple needs. You'd rarely, if ever, hear him complain, but if you did, you knew it was bad and that he trusted you. He was a loving, thoughtful husband, a dad that could beat up the whole world, and a grandfather who loved seeing his grandkids grow up. He was a gift and his family has been blessed, all these years, to have him as their own.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura (McConkey) Arwine of Atwood, Illinois, his sons Keith Arwine of Tuscola, Illinois, Ryan Arwine and his wife Starr of Atwood, Illinois and their children Daniel, Jeffrey, Skyler, Edik, Bryson and Charlie; Jared Arwine of Neoga, Illinois; he is also survived by his daughters Angela Arwine of Tuscola, Illinois and her children Cash and Everis; and Emma Fava and her husband John of Urbana, Illinois. His brother Jess Arwine and wife Marilyn of Williamsburg, Iowa; and sisters Peggy Skinner and husband Howard (deceased) of Hume, Illinois; Sandy Ponder and husband Robert of Wellington, Illinois; Dianne Duzan of Oakland, Illinois; Nancy Kuykendall of Charleston, Illinois; Sherri Gough and husband Ned of Brocton, Illinois; and sister-in-laws Karen Arwine of Sevierville, Tennessee; Miyun (Cho) Doenitz of Mahomet, Illinois; and Susie Arwine of Terre Haute, Indiana. He is also survived by 17 nephews; 6 nieces; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Reuben Arwine and mother Evelyn Arwine. Infant brother Bobby and Infant Sister Angela Rae; brothers Michael D. Arwine wife Miyun (surviving), Rick H. Arwine wife Susie (surviving), and James R. Arwine wife Karen (surviving); and sister Gail McDaniel husband Wayne (deceased). He was also preceded in death by 2 nephews; 1 great niece; and 1 great-great niece.
There are no formal services planned at this time but there will be a celebration of life gathering in the spring and the family will forward that information, as it becomes available, to anyone interested.
