Jeffrey Warren Barber

Jeffrey Warren Barber, age 70, passed away November 8, 2024 at the McClure Miller Respite House after bravely battling cancer for five years. Jeff was born June 9, 1954 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Richard and Hope Barber. Jeff lived with his family in Colchester and worshipped at Malletts Bay United Church of Christ. His loving spirit is carried on by his wife, Alice, children, Jennifer and Nathan, son-in-law Jeff, daughter-in law Erin, and grandson, Finley.
He will also be missed by extended family: Stephen Barber, Joanne Piva, Tim Witwer, Kulia and Doug Dillavou, Chace and Erin Barber, Rindy Barrett, Laura and Marty Postma, Tyler and Meaghan Dillavou-Schreiber, Leslie and Brad Halburg, and several grand nieces and nephews. He will be reunited with his sister, Susan Witwer.
Jeff graduated from Punahou High School, where he met and married the love of his life, Alice Simpson. Earning degrees at UVM, they settled in Vermont. Jeff was a high school social studies teacher at Lamoille Union High School for 30 years. He was an animated storyteller who taught with humor and insight. Teaching and relating to others was a lifelong passion. He could talk to anyone; conversations with Jeff were lively and lengthy.
Jeff's unwavering mantra during his fight with cancer was strength, faith, and family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed.
A service will be held on November 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Malletts Bay UCC (1672 W Lakeshore Drive, Colchester). Calling hours will take place the same day, from 3:00-5:00 PM, at Stephen C. Gregory and Son (472 Meadowland Drive, Suite 7, South Burlington).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Malletts Bay United Church of Christ.
