Jeffrey Lin "Jeff" Burnley, born on December 8, 1945, in Summit County, Ohio, passed away on August 7, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 79.

A man of many talents and a heart full of courage, Jeff served his country with distinction as a specialist in the U.S. Army. As a member of the 173D Airborne Brigade, famously known as the Sky Soldiers, he bravely completed three tours in Vietnam. His valor and dedication were recognized with numerous citations and medals, including the National Defense Service medal, the Vietnam Campaign medal, the Vietnam Service medal with overseas bars, the Army Commendation Medal for Valor plus 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and the prestigious Bronze Star medal. Jeff was also awarded the Purple Heart for injuries suffered in the line of duty.

After his military service, Jeff built a career as an electrician in building construction, where his skill and dedication were evident to all who worked alongside him. Known for his mischievous spirit and a toughness that belied his heart of gold, Jeff was a beloved friend and confidant.

Jeff had a passion for life's adventurous pursuits, finding joy in deep sea fishing with his lifelong friend Paul and hunting trips with his late brother Jon. A true outdoorsman, he cherished these moments and formed lasting memories with those closest to him. His charisma and charm earned him the reputation of being a ladies' man, a facet of his personality that brought both smiles and stories to share.

In his community, Jeff was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9795 in Canal Fulton, Ohio and the American Legion Post 133 in Miami, Florida. His dedication to his fellow veterans was unwavering and reflected his lifelong commitment to service.

Preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Madeline Burnley, and his dear brother, Jon Burnley, Jeff leaves behind a family and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his sister, Alyson Helms, nieces Jenny, Melissa, and Alyson, nephews Lee, Scott, Aaron, Vann, and Jeffrey, and his sister-in-law, Donna Burnley. Among his dearest friends, Paul and Andrea Scott held a special place in his heart.

Graveside services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date, where Jeff will be laid to rest with full military honors. His legacy of bravery, friendship, and adventure will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
