Jeffrey Lynn Chew, 76, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Born July 28, 1947, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Thomas Chew and Roberta (Sutton) Roadcup. He married Rosemary Fleenor on September 16, 1993, in Jennings County; she survives.
Jeffrey served in the US Army Special Forces. He was a self-employed free lance Truck Driver. Jeffrey was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Post in Seymour. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and playing horseshoes. Jeffrey loved being outdoors and spending time with his family.
Surviving with his wife, Rosemary, are his sons, Patrick Jason (Sabrena) Chew of North Vernon and Matthew Lee of Seymour; daughters Elizabeth Holmes of North Vernon and Tina (Darrell) Morris of Austin; sisters, Dorinda Tucker and Sue Speer both of Florida; grandchildren, Nate Chew, Tom Chew, Joseph Sawyer, Jacob Holmes, Brianna Holmes, Savannah Reed, Matthew Reed, Jaida Lee, Brandon Lee, Tequilla Lee, Austin Lee, Ryder Lee, Johnna Ivory, Desiree Williams, Anastasia Williams, Kaitlyn Williams, and Felicia Williams and great-grandchildren, Nolan and Landon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Barry Dean Williams Chew; brothers, Barry Dean Chew and Thomas Chew.
A funeral service for Jeffrey will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Veron with his son Patrick Chew officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A burial will follow in the Baldwin Cemetery in Vernon with military graveside rites by members of Matt Hester Post #2021.
Memorials may be made in honor of Jeffrey through the funeral home for expenses.
