Morris Thomas Wildey, 89, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:25 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the home of his son in Elizabethtown.
Morris was born in Jennings County, to the late Susie Belle Jordan Wildey and Earl West Wildey on October 23, 1936. He married Norma Jean Dean Wildey in 1955, and they celebrated 70 years of marriage on November 12, 2025; she survives. He was a 1955 graduate of North Vernon High School.
Morris worked for the Lord all his life. He was a believer of Our Lord Jesus Christ; a member of First Christian Church, Scipio United Methodist Church and North Vernon United Methodist Church throughout his life.
Morris worked for Cummins Engine Company until his retirement. He owned rental houses. He was President of the North Vernon Little League, a member of Jennings County School Board, ten years with the Indiana National Guard, the President and Vice President of the Office Committee Union at Cummins, and a 45-year member of Euchre Club. Morris was a 70-year season ticket holder and fan for Jennings County School Sports, a 14-year member of EHSS Retreats, North Vernon Evening Kiwanis, and a 50 plus year member of the North Vernon Masonic Lodge where he was a Past Master.
He traveled extensively, always willing to help when there was a need. Loved the kids and giving them treats and $2.00 bills. He loved listening to gospel and country music, watching many sports, fishing, and hunting.
Surviving with his wife of 70 years, Norma; are his sons, Morris Dean Wildey and his wife Susan of Indianapolis and Kendall Alan Wildey and his wife Sandy of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Alivia Shea Willis and her husband Bobby of North Vernon, Ariah Paige Heaton and her husband Spencer of Elizabethtown, Hunter Alan Wildey and his wife Phoebe of Scipio, Shane Thomas Howard and his wife Heather of North Vernon, and Kamonica Lela-Ann Peele and her husband Nathan of Westport; and great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Riley Heaton, Gwendolyn, Kendalyn, and Presley Willis, Brantley and Paisley Wildey, Axel and Oakleigh Howard, Landon Anthony, and Khloe Inman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his older sister, Carolyn Sue Wildey Boyd, Infant baby sisters, and his brother, Dr. Carl Albert Wildey; and grandparents, Morris Jay Wildey, Lona Johnson Wildey, Albert Thomas Jordan and Ida Calvert Jordan.
A funeral service for Morris will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Kendall Wildey and Pastor Morris Wildey officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. by members of North Vernon Masonic Lodge. The burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery with military graveside honors by members of Matt Hester Post #2021.
