It is with great sadness we share the loss of Jeffrey Spencer Cordrey, 61, of Burgess, VA, who went peacefully to his heavenly home on April 24, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones and family of caregivers. Jeffrey was born to the late Lee and Winterfred Dawson Cordrey on July 15, 1963.
Jeffrey is survived by his lifelong friends Judy Jett, Blanche Edwards, and Yvonne Swann, along with many cousins and his loving caregivers.
Jeffrey retired from his position as Administrative Assistant with Northumberland County Public Schools after 18 years. He faithfully served in numerous capacities for many years at Fairfields Baptist Church. His extended knowledge and interest in various historical areas included a historical update of the church, which led to the rewrite of the church history entitled "Upon This Rock". He also wrote "Hunting Memories" as told to him by his father. Most noteworthy, in "A Kingdom by the Sea", written by renowned author Miriam W. Haynie, gave tribute to Jeffrey for his assistance in preparing the book for publication. Jeffrey will always be remembered for his humor and his willingness to be a part of helping with any community event.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Steve Booth will lead the service. Interment will follow at Fairfields Baptist Church Cemetery in Burgess. A very special thank you to the caregivers from Hospice of Virginia, for their support and loving care.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jeffrey's honor to the Reedville Festival Hall Restoration, in care of Reedville Fishermen's Museum, P.O. Box 306, Reedville, VA, 22539, Garfield's Rescue, P.O. Box 257, Kilmarnock, VA, 22482, or the charity of your choice.
