Jeffrey "Jeff" Dettling, 54, of Akron, Ohio, passed away September 8.
Born to Gene and Joanne Dettling, Jeff grew up in Akron and graduated from Springfield High School. After graduation, he began working at Rohrich Printing before pursuing his passion for music and entrepreneurial ventures.
Music was at the heart of Jeff's life. A self-taught guitarist, he began playing at a young age and spent his teen years performing in a band with friends. In later years, he enjoyed playing solo at local venues and sharing his music with those closest to him. His guitar was never far away, always ready for a family gathering or an evening with friends.
Jeff shared a special and inseparable bond with his twin sister, Janice. Together they walked through life, sharing countless experiences, friendships, and laughter. Jeff also cherished time with his older brother, Dave and friends, especially while fishing and golfing. He was a loving brother to his older sister, Debbie and proud and loving uncle to his nieces and nephew, who will always remember his kindness, humor, and support.
Those who knew Jeff will remember his heart of gold, his quick wit, and his sense of humor that could light up any room. He was a caring son, brother, uncle, and friend who brought joy to all who were lucky enough to know him.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his nephew, Ryan Angerstien, and his Uncle Sammy Yates. He is survived by his siblings Debbie (John) Pesa, David (Lorrie) Dettling, and his twin sister Janice (Aaron) Potts; nieces Angela, Erica, and Gabriella Pesa, and Elizabeth Potts; his Aunt Juone Yates; cousins Lynn (Don) Bass, Lisa Carr, Kim Yates, and Jeff (Tammy) Yates; along with many lifelong friends and loved ones, especially Carla.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 21, from 1-4 p.m. at Riverside Community Church, 2201 Progress Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
