November 18, 1965 - January 21, 2024
Jeffrey Alan Fitzpatrick, also known as Fitz or Fitzer, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on January 21, 2024, at the age of 58, at Kansas City Hospice House in
Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on November 18, 1965, in Kansas City, Kansas and was a loving father, son, husband, brother, and uncle.
As a child, he spent lots of time playing sports and taking trips to the Fitzpatrick and Whistler family farms located in Northern Missouri. He attended Tomahawk Elementary School, Broadmoor Junior High, and graduated from Shawnee Mission West in the class of 1984. While at West, he met the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Tara Radmall. Always the romantic, he would toss pennies at her window whenever he would come visit her home. Tara and Jeff married in 1994.
After high school, he pursued higher education at JCCC, Pittsburg State, and ultimately earned his Microbiology Degree at the University of Kansas. Throughout his career, Jeff worked for various animal health companies and a law firm. He held fond memories of his time at Shook, Hardy, and Bacon L.L.P., Pfizer Global Manufacturing, Hennessy Research Associates, where he contributed to the development of a new equine vaccine, and Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health.
Jeff will be remembered for his warm hugs, gregarious nature, and good head of hair. He was always outnumbered by women, whose company he thrived in. He had a love of food and cooking, science, nature, music, history, art, and sports. He also had a wide range of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed playing golf, running, bicycling, cartooning, listening to music, skiing, camping, and hiking. We made many wonderful memories as a family around the holidays and family vacations. We will fondly remember his elaborate jack o' lanterns, skiing trips to Colorado, and his grilling mastery, which was in high demand at any family gathering. Jeff was an enormous source of love, warmth, and humor, and also constantly tested his family's patience, as we did with him. His presence will be deeply, deeply missed.
He was a devoted father and husband and deeply treasured his wife, Tara, and two daughters, Teagan and Kylie, whom he is survived by. He is also survived by his mother, Shirley Fitzpatrick, his sister, Cyndi (Fitzpatrick) Wood, and her husband, Ken Wood. He is also survived by his Mother-in-law, Carol (Gulley) Radmall, sister-in-law, JunAnn (Radmall) Horton, her husband, Ron Horton, and his nieces and nephews: Meaghan (Wood) Georgiana (her husband Bruce and son Luke), Alan Wood, Scott Wood, and Sarah Horton. Jeff also cherished his dog or as he said, "dog-ter", Poppy, and his "grand-dog-ter", Miller. He is also survived by many extended family members including uncles, aunts, cousins, and countless friends.
An open house celebration of Jeff's life will be held at the Matt Ross Community Center (8101 Marty St,
Overland Park, KS) in the Hearth Room on February 3, 2024, from 10 AM to 12 PM. In honor of Jeff's love of sports, the family will be wearing his favorite team apparel. We invite attendees to wear their favorite team apparel as well.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Children's Mercy Hospital, Pawportunities Animal Rescue, or Hospice House of Kansas City in Jeff's memory.
The Fitzpatrick family thanks the Cremation Society of Kansas & Missouri for their guidance.
