WEST COXSACKIE - It is with deep sadness that the family of Jeffrey Karl Flack, age 68, announces his death on December 18, 2022, after a brief illness.
Jeff was born on February 23, 1954, in Catskill to Fred Flack and Leona Powell Flack. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1972 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in forestry from the University of Maine. He worked for many years for the Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District, retiring in 2020 as executive director. Jeff found great solace and beauty in nature; through his work on the GCSWCD team, he helped to preserve the natural world for future generations to enjoy. He also served on the boards of the Bronck House and the Medway-Grapeville Cemetery.
Jeff was an avid music lover, keen woodworker, and genial trivia companion. His greatest joy was his family. His gentle spirit will be missed more than words can say by his family, friends, and neighbors.
He is survived by his beloved and heartbroken children, Thomas Hohenstein-Flack, Hannah Hohenstein-Flack (Chaston Kome), and Dieudonné Kageruka (Nadine); his wife and dear friend, Anne Hohenstein; and his brother, Dick, sister-in-law, Barbara and their wonderful children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his treasured daughter, Sarah, and his loving parents.
Jeff's favorite days were spent outdoors, in the Hudson River Valley that he loved, in the company of his family and friends.
Jeff's family wishes to gather outdoors in warmer weather to celebrate his life and our memories of him.
