It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Luke Howell, age 59, of Jacksonville, Florida, on August 29, 2025, following a brief illness.
Born on June 30, 1966, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, Jeff was raised in Atlantic Beach and was the beloved son of Shirley Howell and the late Bill Howell. He was the devoted husband and soulmate of Missi Howell, a wonderful stepfather to Shauna Mullins Benko (Bill) and Caleb Elkins, and proud grandfather to Emma Effinger, Jaiden Benko, and Brooke Benko. He was preceded in death by his stepson Lance Mullins. He also leaves behind siblings Bill Howell, Cindy Howell Davis, Mark Howell and Eric Howell (Sherry).
Jeff lived life with an open heart, a love for exploring and a sense of humor that brought light to everyone around him. He had a deep love for all music, cherished his family time, and found immense joy in transforming the family’s West Virginia farm into a place of beauty and peace. He and Missi shared a love for travel, exploring new cultures, customs, and cuisines around the world.
From a young age, Jeff was interested in technology and science. He was a graduate of Duncan Fletcher High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Jacksonville University. He dedicated 25 years to the PGATour/ShotLink, retiring recently after a brilliant and successful career. He was admired for his loyalty, generosity, and the unwavering strength and support he provided to his family and friends.
Jeff will be remembered for his kindness, adventurous spirit, and the love he poured into every aspect of his life. His legacy of devotion, humor, and friendship will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on September 13, 2025 at Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate his remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to K-9’s for Warriors in Ponte Vedra, Florida.
