Jeffrey Jay Jacomet entered this world on 09/03/1953 to Dolores (Jellema) and William Jacomet in Sioux Falls, SD. He made his mark wherever he landed, including Mitchell, SD and Wessington Springs, SD. One thing you could always count on from Jeff is a guided tour of those places that were meaningful.
Jeff entered the restaurant business from an early age as his own grandparents and parents were in the business. You could say it was in his blood. He first gained experience in his parent's restaurant, the Springs Inn in Wessington Springs which is still owned and operated by his sister. In his early years, he gained experience in kitchens from Sioux Falls to the Black Hills and beyond. He traveled via motorcycle, a love that continued into his old age.
He met the love of his life, Mary Boggs and they were united in marriage on 11/02/1981. Mary joined Jeff on his food service journey. Together they operated the Village Inn in Madison, SD and the Ortman Hotel and Jac's Restaurant in Canistota through their 42 years together.
Jeff enjoyed golf maybe enjoyed is an understatement. Golf was life. They moved to Sun City, AZ just to enjoy year round golfing! Jeff met so many life long friends through golfing. Jeff also enjoyed time spent with friends and family and of course, his pets.
You would be hard pressed to meet someone who did not have a funny story to tell about Jeff. Even though he presented a crass exterior, inside he had a huge soft spot for his children and grandchildren.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Mary. His daughter Jacquelyn (Dareus) Montreal, his son Samuel (Nadia) Jacomet. His grandchildren Corbin, Reid, Faith, Mary Bea, and Sara Iva. His sisters Cheryl (Chet) Manthei and Carla (Jon) Niemeyer. His brothers Lynn and Mike Jacomet. Shall we not forget countless nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins. He preceded in death by his mother and father.
