PEACHLAND – On Saturday, December 30, 2023, Mr. Jeffrey “Jeff” Scott Harris, 61, beloved husband, father, grandfather and son, passed away peacefully to be with Lord at Atrium Health CMC Main in Charlotte with his wife at his bedside.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 5, 2024, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Marc Sessions officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the funeral home.
Jeff was born July 16, 1962, in Anson County, NC and was a son of Edna Pegram Tucker and the late William Cleveland Harris. He was a 1981 graduate of Bowman High School.
He also received a degree in taxidermy from Montgomery Community College and for a number of years he worked as a taxidermist. Later, he worked with the Town of Wadesboro as the street superintendent. He also served with the Wadesboro Volunteer Fire Department for 13 years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Wanda Griggs Harris; his children, Misty Harris of Peachland, Heather Poplin (Jamie) and Josh Harris (Tara) all of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Bailey and Katie Poplin and Teagan, Thomas and Laci Harris; his mother, Edna Tucker of Wadesboro; his step-mother, Saundra Harris of Peachland; his mother-in-law, Frances Griggs of Wadesboro and his sister-in-law, Angela Creager (Mike) of Fayetteville.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Russell Harris, his brother, Kevin Tucker and his step-father, J.D. Tucker.
Jeff was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing trips with his family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening and raising chickens. He looked forward to beach trips with his family and friends to Sea Cabins in North Myrtle Beach.
He was devoted to his family and friends and will be missed by all who loved him.
