In Loving Memory
Jeffrey Jay Jones, affectionately known as J, JJ, Pops, Poppy and Uncle Junkle passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, in Rowlett, Texas, just days shy of his 70th birthday. Born on December 10, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he lived a life surrounded by people who loved him and he showed the Lord's love to them through his servant's heart.
Jeff was a devoted husband to Kathie, a proud father to Amber Anderson, and the world's most doting grandfather to Ava and Aubrey Diesch, who adored their Poppy beyond measure. He was happiest when he was with his granddaughters, whether it was chauffeuring them to activities, cheering them on, or bringing their imaginations to life. For Ava, that meant crafting creative cardboard masterpieces for puppet shows and endless adventures. With Aubrey, he shared a deep love of music, creating a bond through melodies and moments that will never be forgotten. He considered being a grandfather his greatest blessing and the legacy he was most proud to leave behind.
Jeff was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jere and Kay Jones; sister Kim; nephew Mike; and niece Samantha.
His memory lives on through his sister Karla and her husband Jeff; nephew Nick; niece Misty and her husband PJ; great-nieces Braden, Leah, Holli, Lauren, Kacey, and Lanie; and great-great-nieces and nephews Brinley, Liam, and Sofia. His circle of love also includes many cousins and extended family, including the Wallis, Johnson, and Horner families, who brought him joy and companionship throughout the years.
A 1974 graduate of South Garland High School, Jeff began his career as a manufacturer's rep in the paint and hardware industry before finding his true calling in the aircraft engine business. He worked for companies such as Aviall and TPI, where he was known as "Crash." In 2002, he co-founded his own company, Turbine Engine Resources (TER), and retired in 2017, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and integrity.
Jeff was an avid sports fan who bled burnt orange for his beloved UT Longhorns. In his earlier years, he enjoyed NASCAR, boating, fishing, and attending concerts. From classic films to rock anthems, he could rattle off quotes, names, dates, and fun facts like no one else. He never missed a day with the newspaper, especially the sports section, and had an unmatched talent for solving crossword puzzles. Friends described Jeff simply as a good man and a great friend. He never sought the spotlight as he found true fulfillment in quietly serving others and making sure everyone felt cared for.
He had a devoted spirit spending so much of his life caring for others. For years, he provided care to his father-in-law and his father within his home, ensuring their comfort and well-being with unwavering dedication. That same thoughtfulness carried into the little things. When he picked up his grandchildren, he always had their favorite drinks waiting, knowing how much those small gestures mattered. On family trips, he never failed to keep a cooler stocked, making sure everyone was cared for. His quiet acts of service spoke volumes, showing his devotion in ways that touched every life around him.
Known as the ultimate "host with the most," Jeff made sure every guest felt at home. His get-togethers were memorable celebrations filled with laughter and connection, often featuring competitive games of water volleyball. Friends and family said those moments were the highlight of their week because he had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed.
Jeff's life exemplified kindness, generosity, selflessness and an unwavering devotion to family and friends. His big-hearted nature will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
We'll love you forever, Poppy. Until we meet again in Heaven, Hook 'em Horns!
