Carolyn Collier Boyd was born on January 12, 1934, in
Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jeff and Marguerite Collier. She passed away on December 6, 2025, in
Wylie, Texas, at the age of 91.
The Collier family moved to Oklahoma City in 1940, where Carolyn started 1st grade. The next year the family relocated to Lubbock, Texas, where she later graduated from Lubbock High School.
Following high school, Carolyn attended Draughon's Business College. After graduating she was hired as a secretary to the president of the college. On December 28, 1951, she married Harlan Dale Boyd, a Texas Tech student from Wichita Falls. After Dale's graduation, the couple moved to the Dallas area, where they both were employed at Chance Vought Aircraft.
Carolyn and Dale had four children. She was a stay-at-home mom until all her children were in school. She then returned to the workforce and became a long-time employee of Stimson Contracting Company. She retired in 1993.
In retirement Carolyn and Dale enjoyed traveling in their RV, spending summers in the cooler northern climates. They traveled extensively thoughout Canada and drove twice to Alaska in their RV.
Carolyn was actively involved at Highland Oaks Church of Christ where she sewed with Helping Hearts, coordinated travel for the 39er's group, and shared her famous fudge at Christmas.
Carolyn was known for helping others, having a compassionate heart and for her great sense of humor. She smiled and laughed a lot and made us do the same. She never met a stranger and her kindness shone brightly. She made everyone feel special.
Carolyn is survived by her four children: David (Vicki) Boyd, Becky (Rick) Wafford, Tom Boyd and Jill Boyd. She had 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Virginia Francis, and her brother, Bob (Ann) Collier.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dale Boyd, her baby daughter, Karen Kay Boyd; parents, Jeff and Marguerite Collier; and her brother, Richard Collier.
Services will be held on December 13, 2025, at Highland Oaks Church of Christ. Visitation is at 1:00 pm and the service is at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to Highland Oaks Church of Christ or
Alzheimer's Association.
