Paul Rector Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Falls Funeral Home & Cremation Center - Wichita Falls on Mar. 18, 2026.
Paul Wayne Rector, 75, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, March 23, at 11:00 a.m. at Veteran Plaza in Lake Wichita Park.

Paul was born on July 3, 1950, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Dorothy (Evans) Rector and Clifford Rector. He grew up in Wichita Falls, where he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors, scouting, and community service.

A proud Eagle Scout from Troop 84, earning the honor in 1968, Paul later went on to guide countless young men as a devoted Scoutmaster for Troops 144 and 84. His leadership, generosity, and quiet wisdom left a lasting impact on many.

Paul married the love of his life, Debra ("Debbie") Powell, in July of 1973. Together they raised a family grounded in faith, laughter, and shared adventure.

Professionally, Paul worked as Operations Manager for Ben E. Keith and as a food salesman for White Swan/US Foodservice before later retiring from West Moreland Pool Company, where he proudly served as Frank's "right-hand man." Those who knew Paul will remember his strong work ethic, his kind spirit, and his ever-present sense of humor.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Paul found peace and joy in the outdoors. Whether casting a line at dawn or sitting quietly in a deer stand, he cherished the beauty of nature and the time spent with friends and loved ones.

Paul is survived by his brother Robert and wife Ann Rector of Mount Vernon, Texas; his son Chris and wife April Rector of Wylie, Texas; his daughter Misty and husband Michael McCarty of Comanche, Oklahoma; grandchildren Jake Rector, Kaylie and husband Dale Renfro, Johnathon Rector, Josh Rector, Addie McCarty, and Walker McCarty; and great-granddaughter Hattie Renfro.

Paul's steady hand, loving heart, and easy smile will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends to honor Paul's memory by enjoying the outdoors, lending a hand to a Scout troop, or sharing a story around a campfire-just as he would have loved.
