SALEM - Jeff G. Kabriel passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 63. Funny, charming, and deeply alive until the very end, Jeff refused to let cancer steal his joy. Instead, he packed every day with laughter, friendship, and love.
Born in El Reno, Oklahoma to the late J Ronald and Marcia (Slaughter) Kabriel, Jeff spent his childhood moving between Oklahoma, New York City, and Washington, DC - shaping his curiosity, independence, and sense of adventure. He graduated from School Without Walls in Washington, DC, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Oklahoma. After college, Jeff settled in Boston, where he built a remarkable career designing restaurants and resorts, crafting immersive spaces down to the smallest detail - from the weight of the silverware to the glow of the lights - always wanting people to feel alive when they stepped inside.
Jeff collected people and created community wherever he went. His Boston friendships spanned decades, built on shared dreams, scrappy beginnings, and endless games of hackeysack, softball, flag football, and late-night Santarpio’s garlic pizza. Fitness became both passion and purpose: an avid cyclist, spin and TRX instructor, tennis player, and golfer, Jeff energized everyone around him. In retirement, he thrived - playing daily tennis, competing in USTA leagues, sweating through spin classes, and finding a second family at LifeTime Fitness, where workouts turned into hours of laughter, conversation, and connection.
As soon as spring arrived, Jeff and Brooke took to the road in their 1958 Austin Healey, chasing sunshine and the next great ice cream stand. He brought this same playful spirit to every part of life - on the courts, the fairways, neighborhood sidewalks, and over a beer with friends.
In addition to his parents, Jeff is predeceased by his daughter Ann and his sister JaeB. He is survived by his daughter Brooke Kabriel of Boston whom he shares with Elizabeth Kabriel; his partner Holly Allison of Salem; his brother Joseph Kabriel and sister-in-law Renee Kabriel of California; and his cherished nieces and nephew, William, Katie, and Emily Allison. He also leaves behind a wide circle of friends and chosen family who will remember him as compassionate, vibrant, endlessly curious, and full of stories that always carried a little magic.
To remember Jeff, please enjoy a chocolate Frosty from Wendy’s in his honor and continue to share stories that makes you smile.
