"Best Captain We Ever Had"
Passed away peacefully April 14th, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Mickie Kellum. Their children, Brian Quellette (Nicole) and Katharine Quellette. His brother, Jim Kellum (Ann) and five grandchildren as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Jeff was born in Coral Gables, Florida, October 5th 1952. He served his country in the U.S Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Continuing the legacy of both his father and grandfather, Captain Kellum held a Unlimited Coast Guard Master of Towing license as a Merchant Marine Officer for over 50 years. His career started with moving ships on the Miami River. After moving to Cape Canaveral, Captain Jeff supported military ships and submarine movements in Port Canaveral with Petchem Towing. He sailed around the world and was a teacher, mentor, and leader to many in the towing industry.
He was generous, thoughtful, and kind. If you were a friend of his, you became a friend for life. He loved spending time with his family, his cats, watching old western movies, listening to music, and cold beers. He will be missed and forever in the hearts of people who knew him. Captain Jeff Kellum will be returned to the sea at a private ceremony. A Celebration of his Remarkable Life will be held at VFW Post 10131.
