Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory - Brownsville on Mar. 3, 2026.
On February 26, 2026, Jeff Loop, 54, of
Brownsville, Texas, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ while surrounded by his family at his home in
Brownsville, Tx.
Jeffrey Earl Loop was born on May 4, 1971 to Leonard and Deborah Loop in
Brownsville, Texas. He was the youngest of four children and like his father, spent his life farming. Jeff's love of the outdoors was no doubt passed down from his father and grandfather who spent the better part of their years farming the same land in Brownsville.
Jeff graduated from Valley Christian High School in 1989 and briefly attended the University of Texas-Pan American at Brownsville but ultimately his heart was in farming. His family fondly remembers him often saying that farming was all he wanted to do. On January 15, 2000 he married his loving wife, Delinda Slovak (Loop), and together they had 3 beautiful children: Connor (21), Dylan (17), and Madisyn (15).
God, family, the great outdoors, and some good Christian rock music were all Jeff needed. While he "wore many hats" working on the farm, his true passion was growing sunflowers and getting ready for Dove season. While farming was his passion, his wife and children were his pride and joy. With God at the center of his life, he truly was the biblical definition of what God says a man, father, and husband should be. He was a simple man who focused on what mattered in life. His favorite pastime was spending an
afternoon or evening at the "center of the lake" (a beautiful spot on the family farm) with his family all the while enjoying a good BBQ. From early on in his life, the lake held a special place in Jeff's heart. In his later years, he would often go there to have his quiet time, gather his thoughts, and talk with God.
While his faith, family, and farm were at his core, he also enjoyed music. He learned to play guitar at an early age and thus developed his affinity for rock music which he passed on to his boys-Connor and Dylan. He will always be remembered as hardworking, easy going, loyal, and of course, for his goofy sense of humor.
Jeff was an active member of First Baptist Church Brownsville along with his family. He served as a deacon and was a member of the men's Bible study group as well. During his battle with cancer, Jeff found comfort in the Scriptures especially when read to him by his devoted wife. Jeff knew where he was going when he took his last breath. He knew that the God who created the land he loved to farm and the family he so dearly loved would be the same God who he would finally see face-to-face. While he will be dearly missed, his family finds peace and comfort in knowing he is with his Maker.
He is survived by his beloved wife Delinda Loop, his three children Connor, Dylan, and Madisyn, mother, Deborah Loop, sister, Bonnie (Mark) Elbert, brothers Ray (D'Ann) Loop and Frank Loop as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Leonard Loop.
Memorial services will be held Friday, March 6, 2026, at 6:00PM at First Baptist Church Brownsville located at 1600 Boca Chica Blvd. Services have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can either be made to First Baptist Church Brownsville or First Baptist School in Brownsville.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that day. 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
