Jeffrey M. Madura

Jeffrey Michael Madura, of LeClaire, Iowa, was 77 years old when he passed away on June 7, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (née Becker) Madura and daughters, Karen (Michael) Sheeman of Plainfield, Illinois, and Anne (James) Earel of LeClaire, Iowa, as well as by his four beloved grandsons: Jackson and Jayson Sheeman, and Isaac and Jonah Earel.

Jeff was born on March 21, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois to Henrietta and Clarence Madura. He attended St. Simeon Catholic School in Bellwood, Illinois, before graduating from St. Francis High School in Wheaton, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in psychology in 1967, and four years later, earned his MBA in finance from Northwestern University.

Jeff then joined the faculty of Illinois Benedictine College (now Benedictine University) in Lisle, Illinois, where he spent 47 years teaching courses in economics and business, concentrating in accounting and statistics.

Beyond the classroom, Jeff pursued many varied interests, including kite-flying, astronomy, birdwatching, camping, and exploring any parks, forest preserves, and natural landmarks within driving distance. He loved teaching, and shared his vast knowledge with everyone he met. A musician and music-lover, Jeff was always happy when attending his children's and grandchildren's many choral, band, and orchestra concerts. He enjoyed playing the acoustic guitar and electric bass.

Jeff has donated his body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program, allowing him to continue to educate: he will teach students pursuing advanced degrees in health professions at the Carver College of Medicine.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family hopes you will consider a donation in Jeff's name to the educational, medical, or environmental charity of your choice.
