Jeffrey W McDuffie Sr. passed in his sleep unexpectedly on 10/25/2024.
Jeffrey Wayne McDuffie Sr was born on 03/31/1962 in Sanford, NC to the late John Delphus (J.D.) McDuffie Jr. and Ima Jean Wood McDuffie. He was preceded in death by his late grandparents John Delphus McDuffie Sr. and Ruby Lee Dean McDuffie as well as grandparents Carmie Esley Wood and Esther McLawhorn Wood.
Jeff was born into a racing family and that was his whole world. He idolized his father, NASCAR racing legend, #70, J.D. McDuffie. As soon as he could hold a steering wheel, his Dad was showing him the ropes around the body shop or race track.
Jeff started racing at the age of 14 in Street Car Division, then late model and won many races in both divisions. The racing number #7 was Jeff's from that point on when he started racing with J.D. in NASCAR in the early 1980's. Jeff competed in 5 races in the NASCAR Winston Cup series at North Wilksboro and Rockingham.
Jeff loved his Dad, but eventually wanted to follow his own path. He pursued other career paths and became a father during this time. Jeffrey Wayne McDuffie Jr was born in 1983 with Lisa Fish McDuffie of Lee County.
Christine Ann Rodriguez was born in 1986 to Jeff and Babs L. Ludikhuize of Orange County, California.
Christine left Sanford with her mother at 1 years old.
J.D. and Jean helped raise Jeffrey Jr and when J.D. died in 1991, he stayed with Jean until adulthood.
Jeff returned that dedication at the end of Jean's life. He lived with her so she could stay in her home.
Jeff loved to fish, bbq a good steak and watch racing every time it was on. He bought his first home 2 years ago and loved every inch of his castle and was truly content for the first time in his life..
He was so proud of his daughter and her family.
Rodolfo (Rudy) Rodriguez Jr. helped give his daughter a life that Jeff could not.
Jeff beamed when talking about his grand daughters. Lauryn Alexa Rodriguez, Isabella Joy Rodriguez and Brenley Claire Rodriguez.
Jeff ran a life that may not have started as well as it could have, but he corrected that course and finished the race in good shape. He was proud of the life he had at the end.
He is also survived by his sister, Linda Karen McDuffie and her wife: Wendy North McDuffie and step sons Jon-Carlos North Jones, Julian Diego North Jones.
The family wants to thank his friend Paulette D'Apolito for her assistance the last 2 years.
The family will receive friends at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held in the Bridges & Cameron Funeral Home chapel, Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Blair Cameron officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Buffalo cemetery.
