Funeral Time: Friday, June 9th at 1:00PM
With great sadness, Jeffrey Scott "Jeff" Sandberg, 37, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Baptist Health Lexington due to cancer. He was born on March 30, 1986, in Louisville, KY. At the time of his passing, he was a Documentation Specialist for AdaptHealth, where he worked for 11 years. He is survived by his parents, Scott and Karen Sandberg of Lexington; sister, Lauren Sandberg; brother, Brian Sandberg (Sarah); nephew, Brayden Sandberg; girlfriend, Courtney Toms; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was a graduate of Dunbar High School Class of 2004 in Lexington and attended Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro and Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Lexington. He was the ultimate connoisseur of all sports and was known to place a few bets. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, Phoenix Suns, and the annual NCAA Basketball Tournament. March Madness was his Christmas. He enjoyed golf and tennis, but his true love was basketball. His love of the game began when he started walking. He played varsity basketball at Dunbar High School and the competition feared his pure jump shot from behind the arc. His teammates have said, "his ability to shoot the ball was truly inhuman." One of Jeffrey's passions was coaching youth basketball, instilling teamwork, and the love of the game. Most of all, Jeffrey was a kind and compassionate soul and was loved by many. He always found the good in people, looked past their imperfections, and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Many of his friends said he was one of the nicest guys they knew. He loved family get togethers, especially during the holidays, and was extremely close to his family. Even in death, he reached out to others by donating his corneas to give the gift of sight. Jeffrey set an example of what this world needs more of kindness, compassion, empathy, patience, and acceptance. He would want us to "Pay It Forward". What better gifts could we pass on in his remembrance? So "Just Do It".
The Visitation and Memorial Service will be held on Friday June 9, 2023, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, KY. The Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The Memorial Service will be at 1:00 PM, followed by the burial at Lexington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society and / or the Lexington YMCA youth sports programs.

Jeff was our son, Taylor`s, longtime roommate and friend. He was always so kind and polite to us even if we stopped by during a game on TV! He was such a great friend to Taylor.
Scott, Karen and family, we continue to pray for you. Peace to you. Mark and Beth Alexander

Jeff was the kindest young man in high school and even more amazing when he helped coach our oldest in basketball and soccer at the Beaumont Y! He was a joy to teach and it was a joy to watch him teach the littles to love basketball as much as he did!

Blessings and love,

Tony & Karen Taylor (Kyle Taylor's parents)

Karen, Scott, and Family,

Words cannot truly give comfort to the grief of losing a loved one. Time is miserly in what it lends and never grants us enough to enjoy those who are closest to our hearts before they are no longer with us, particularly when they are lost in their prime.

But although life is ephemeral, we hope that you can find strength in knowing that nothing can ever take away the memory of Jeff being a part of your lives nor of the lives he touched.

Please accept our deepest condolences.

Monica and Paul
