Jeffrey "Jeff" Michael Stewart, 71, passed away surrounded by family and friends on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center in Akron. Jeff was a resident of New Franklin, a graduate of Barberton High School, Class of 1970, a US Navy veteran, a lifelong Cleveland sports fan, and the owner of Stewart Pest Control. Jeff loved to laugh and tell stories, many of which were somewhat true. According to his memoirs, he was well known for ridding Ohio of the dreaded Salamander Virus, for never being late for appointments, for once driving from Akron to Columbus in less than 30 minutes, and for his tireless advocacy to legalize airplane glue. In all seriousness, Jeff was a beloved member of the Barberton community and the parish of Prince of Peace. He also positively impacted hundreds of lives as a youth and middle school football coach for more than 30 years. Jeff was a lover of dogs, especially his pets, "Rudy" and "Daisy". Jeff is survived by his wife, Dolores Juriga; sisters: Ivy (Stewart) Church and Michelann (Stewart) Sweeney-Cordero; sons: Don (Amber) Stewart, Jeffrey "JD" Stewart, Clayton (Stephanie) Stewart and Joe Stewart; grandchildren: Charley Stewart, Jacob Stewart and Devynn White; nephews: Shea Sweeney and Micah Church; brother-in-law Jim Juriga; and cousins: Rick Kepler, John Kepler, Greg Spence, Scott Spence, Ric Spence, Tracy (Spence) Dobransky and Shawn Spence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald E Stewart and Jean (Spence) Ali, and stepfather, Edward J Ali. Jeff's family will receive friends on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203. A Mass will be held on Saturday, March 18, at 10 a.m. at the Prince of Peace parish, 1263 Shannon Ave, Barberton, with Father Robert Jackson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeff's memory can be sent to the Barberton Area Community Ministries (BACM) food pantry, 939 Norton Ave, Barberton, OH, 44203.
