Jeffrey Todd Wells, a beloved husband, brother, and friend, passed away on January 19, 2025, at Duke University Hospital. He was born on November 4, 1963, and lived a life filled with curiosity, passion, and an unwavering dedication to his family, friends and profession.
Jeffrey had a successful career, working several years at Glaxo Smith Kline and subsequently at Johnson Controls. His professional journey was marked by his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence, traits that were mirrored in his life outside of work.
In his younger years, Jeffrey was known for his active lifestyle, participating in various sports and outdoor activities. He enjoyed playing softball, riding ATVs, and bowling, all of which reflected his vibrant spirit and love for adventure. Jeffrey had a remarkable talent for building things out of wood, showcasing not only his craftsmanship but also his inquisitive nature about how things were made. His incredible knowledge of random facts and trivia often astounded those around him, making him a cherished conversationalist and a source of endless entertainment. He enjoyed meals and time out with friends and was an avid UNC Tarheel fan.
Jeffrey is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia "Cindy" Garrett, and his beloved sisters Tracey Wells Lennon and Lisa Sue Wells as well as other beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James R. "Jim" Wells and Sara Standish Wells, and his brother, James Scott Wells "Scottie." The warmth of Jeffrey's presence will be missed dearly, leaving behind cherished memories for all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on January 27, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hudson Funeral Home, located at 211 S Miami Blvd, Durham, NC 27703. The memorial service will follow from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Varonica Livingston will officiate the service.
Jeffrey Todd Wells will be remembered for his kind heart, inquisitive mind, and the joy he brought into the lives of those around him. His legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege to know him.
The family asked that in lieu of flowers donations made to the American Heart Association or other charity of your choice.
