Jeffrey Woody Obituary
Jeffrey Woody, a loving and loyal husband and father, passed away at home in Naples, Florida on September 11, 2025, after an extended six-year battle with cancer. Jeff was the most optimistic and positive person with an incredible enthusiasm for life. He had a reputation for overcoming every obstacle he encountered during his lifetime, so it's inconceivable to anyone who knew him that he wouldn't beat cancer too. His family knew those obstacles and how hard he fought to rise above them.
Born in Burlington, North Carolina on September 2, 1961, he grew up moving back and forth between Florida, Oklahoma and North Carolina. He was active in many sports but excelled at both wrestling and golf. As a middle schooler in Oklahoma, he took up wrestling, where he qualified and medaled in the Junior Olympics. He attended the University of Oklahoma before joining the United States Air Force, and after being honorably discharged from the military, set out on an unconventional career path switching back and forth between sales and golf. Jeff began playing golf at a young age, playing in college and beyond and eventually used his dual sales and golf skills to set up tournaments for groups of clients throughout the United States. By the time he finished traveling, he had played the top courses in every state in the contiguous US, his favorite being Pinehurst Number 2.
After meeting his wife, Jeri, he settled permanently in Weston, Florida and became a PGA teaching professional at various country clubs, including Broken Sound Club in Boca Raton, Fisher Island Club in Fisher Island and La Gorce Country Club in Miami Beach. He and his wife later moved to Naples, and he switched to what became his favorite career move by becoming a client advisor at Germain BMW. He broke many sales records while there and appreciated both the family atmosphere of management and interacting with his many loyal and devoted clients. He stayed there until his illness forced him on medical leave and was so grateful for their continued support.
He and Jeri traveled together for many years and still had a long list of places left to visit. One thing that was an inside joke to many who knew him was his ability to win at almost everything: whether it was playing poker, shooting pool or playing chess, he was always jokingly accused of hustling, since even when he hadn't played for years, he would still win.
He is survived by his wife, Jeri Woody and son, Jeffrey Woody, as well as his mother, Elizabeth L. Hess of Vero Beach, Florida; his father, Dr. Michael of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his brother, Don Woody (Patty) of Wilmington, North Carolina and his sisters, Marci Shaw (Chris) of London, United Kingdom and Tracy Woody Purdie of Greensboro, North Carolina.
Jeff was the true definition of a family man and lived for Jeri and Jeffrey. His larger-than-life personality was such that once you knew him, you would never forget him. He was truly one of a kind and will be loved, missed and remembered forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Jeff's memory. Please reach out to Jeri for the date and any further information.
