Jennie Anderson was born on April 4, 1928 to Edward and Martha (Kallemeyn) Tinklenberg in Leota, Minnesota, where she was raised. She attended Leota Christian School through the eighth grade. On May 2, 1952, Jennie was united in marriage to Raymond Anderson at the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Leota. The couple made their home in Luverne, Minnesota, first living in an apartment. They then purchased an old school house which they moved into town, living in the basement until they remodeled the home on their own. Jennie and Ray were then blessed with three children which she was a homemaker to. During younger years, she and Ray supplemented their income as Amway agents. As the kids grew older, Jennie became employed as a clerk at Creeger’s, then as a clerk at the Sewing Basket and then as a cashier at the Blue Mound Inn.

In her early years, Jennie loved to do a variety of crafts projects and enjoyed crocheting dolls. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she had taught Sunday school, participated in Bible study, and volunteered in the library. She was devoted to her Lord and tried to instill His love and teachings into her family’s hearts. She was also a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In service to her community, Jennie was proud to be a part of the Meals on Wheels program in its beginning years.

In 2009, Jennie and Ray sold their home and moved to an apartment near the Veterans pond. They later moved to an apartment at The Oaks until Ray’s health required him to enter a nursing home facility. At this time Jennie moved into an apartment at the Tuff Village in Hills, Minnesota. Following Ray’s death, Jennie moved back to Luverne and lived with her daughter, Janine. In 2018, Jennie became a resident at the Good Samaritan Society – Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne. While at the care facility, she enjoyed talking with friends, sharing recipes and playing Bingo. On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Jennie went to join Ray in heaven at the age of 97 years, five months and five days.

Jennie is lovingly remembered by her three children, Terry Anderson (friend, Sherri Wieneke) of Luverne, Todd (Veronica) Anderson of Oak Grove, Minnesota, and Janine (Darwin) Brands of Luverne; four grandchildren, Nathan Brands (fiancé, Tracy Kloos), Amanda Hoffenkamp (significant other, Shawon Nixon), Jessica Brands (fiancé, Eric Jandl), and Cassondra Yonzon (significant other, Ricky Lovan); seven great-grandchildren, James Hoffenkamp, Cheyanne Hoffenkamp, Jaxon Brands, Iris Yonzon, Isaac Yonzon, Ivie Yonzon and Kayden Brands; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; parents, Edward and Martha; three brothers, Simon, Gary, and Marvin Tinklenberg; and a sister, Joann Tinklenberg.
