Jennifer Boyd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Funeral & Cremation on May 25, 2022.
Our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend to all, Jennifer Joan Boyd, 70, passed away on May 9, 2022, at Hospice, in Spokane, WA, after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of Larry G Boyd. They shared 33 years of marriage together. Jennifer was born on February 10, 1952 in Wichita, Kansas. She was the daughter of Charles Milton Rodrick and Edna Marie Rodrick (Conrad).Jennifer was the youngest of three children with a brother, Mark and a sister, Becky. Jennifer attended school in Wichita until her sophomore year of high school. Then, the family moved to Everett, Washington. Jennifer graduated from Everett High School in 1970. Jennifer attended Everett Community College and Auerswold's Business University for court reporting. Jennifer graduated from court reporting school and became licensed in the State of Washington. Jennifer worked as a court reporter in the private sector, in Olympia, WA, and owned a business in Seattle, WA. Later, Jennifer worked in the superior courts in Grant and Spokane counties. She worked as a court reporter for 42 years. Jennifer had the certifications required and was licensed to work in the State of Washington Superior Courts and in the Federal Courts. As a child Jennifer was an avid reader, having learned to read before attending school. She played the piano and loved to go fishing at Cedar Creek near Canton, Kansas. She was a climber of all things tall: trees, houses, school buildings, and farm barns. She would be the one to look over the cliff edge to see the bottom of the canyon. Jennifer loved animals and especially dogs. She leaves behind her dog, Max. Jennifer will be remembered as a wonderful coworker, a dedicated employee, and as a leader of the State Court Reporters Association having served as an officer. Jennifer was a great friend to many people that knew her as a church member, family member, friend, neighbor, and fellow employee. Jennifer was a gentle soul and was loved by all that knew her. Jennifer is survived by her husband, Larry G Boyd, daughter Angelique D Becherini (Boyd), of Ogden, UT, and Angelique's husband, Bryan Becherini, and granddaughters, Carmela and Clea. Jennifer is also survived by two stepchildren, Judi Barbre of Spokane, WA, and Brian Boyd of Vancouver, WA and their families. She was predeceased by her grandparents, and parents Charles Milton Rodrick and Edna Marie Rodrick (Conrad).

Larry, Angelique, Becky, Mark, your spouses and families, granddaughters, Carmela and Clea, I am so very sorry for the loss of Jennifer and what she meant to each of you. I know she had many dear friends who are also sharing in your grief. I have known Jennifer since we started school at Longfellow Elementary in Wichita. At some point in grade school, she started going by "Jan" so I revert back to that sometimes. Mrs. Rodrick (Edna) was our dedicated Brownie and Girl Scout leader and many of my close bonds with friends grew from that experience. Lifelong friends are precious and to be cherished. I´m grateful for the times we got to spend together as adults and wish there had been more. Jennifer was a special person and I know her faith meant a lot to her. May God give all of you strength and please know many thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Diane Bennett Roberts
