Jennifer Lynn (Somers) Duncan, age 54, passed into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on February 12, 2025, after an extended period of illness.
Jennifer was born in St. Johnsbury, VT on April 7, 1970, to Hezzie and Marion (Tuzo) Somers. She graduated from Union Baptist Christian School in 1988, and attended Bob Jones University where she met her husband, Clark. They were married on October 21, 1990, and shared 34 years together.
Jennifer was always active with the family farm from milking cows to waiting on customers in the strawberry stand to promoting the family’s current beef business to everyone she met. She especially enjoyed sharing pictures of the newborn calves on social media every spring. When her children were young, she drove them, and several neighboring children to school every day at Union Baptist Christian School, where she also helped with everything from preschool to overseeing a daily hot lunch program. As her children got older, she started working for Deb King at both The Barnet Village Store and the West Barnet Quick Stop, eventually becoming the manager of the Quick Stop. She left that job in 2017 to care for her aging parents, and her youngest son who had cancer. She returned to the Quick Stop in 2020 as the early morning baker, providing delicious treats for the customers. Her declining health forced her to leave this job in July 2024.
Her greatest love was her grandchildren. She loved helping them discover new things at the farm and area museums or just sitting and reading a book or watching a movie with them.
She is survived by her husband Clark and their sons Joshua (Amanda) Duncan of St. Johnsbury, VT, Jeremy (Sasha) Duncan of Watertown, NY, Jonathan (Morgan) Duncan of Barnet, VT and Corey Duncan of Barnet, VT. Grandchildren Emma, Cecilia, Wayne, Hazel, and Hezekiah. She is also survived by her sister Diane (Rodney) Cockrell of Rochester, NY, brothers Brian (Kathy) Somers of Barnet, VT and Christopher (Trish) Somers of Lebanon, OH. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and several close friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Hezzie and Marion Somers, and her son Clint Duncan in 2019.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 on Saturday February 22, 2025, at Union Baptist Church, 932 US Rt. 5, Waterford, VT.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Union Baptist Church fellowship fund or the Barnet Good Neighbor fund.
